Mechant Boeuf Bar Brasserie

Great experience. Very typical of the type of restaurants one would expect to find in the old Port. Food was delicious, service was A1 and super fast. We decided to try this place for the Happening Gourmand, an event that takes place once a year in Montreal when restaurants offer special menus for low prices. Not sure if the place is really expensive on a regular evening but we paid 30$ for the salmon tartare entree, the meal and dessert which is impressive for this type of place.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!! Avocado toasts with eggs, classic breakfast and donut holes, — incredibly delicious! Music, interior, and service on a very high level! Thank you! Keep it that way <3

We had a very good time and a great dinner. Alex our waiter was the most attentive and very cool! Would definitely go back. :)We had steak tartar + onion soup (very nice) and 2 x cav and mac (super delicious)

Visited this establishment twice while enjoying my time in Montreal this week. Twice! Warm greeting, great service and perfect music. But the best part? The. Food. Is. Amazing.

It is a nice bar/restaurant.The service was good and friendly.We had the steak frites and it was good, but the French fries were way too salty.The star of the evening were the mini hamburgers... They were amazing! Do yourself a favor if you go and order them. They are an appetizer. I don't know if they have them in full size.Besides that, the price was reasonable and the ambiance is cozy and chic.

This is a nice place to go out to eat a good piece of meat with friends. Service is great and staff is young and cool. The surf & turf was sick! Oh and the mashed potatoes were the best I ever had.

The food was delicious, and Matthieu gave excellent service and recommendations. It was our second year spending the Christmas holidays in Montreal, and we returned after a wonderful experience the year before. Highly recommend!

A great experience! Meats are delicious, with a broad choice of red wines... Friendly and efficient staff, great location in the old city, lovely place. Gluten-free and dairy free options. Worth to spend time in this exquisite restaurant during your visit of Montreal!

Came here for my Birthday/1year Anniversary and I would definitely go back! Great ambiance and the service was amazing both our waiters Mathieu and Eric were great! attentive, courteous and energetic even for a Monday night, food was fantastic we had the Salmon tartar as an appetizer and the hanger steak which was cooked perfectly and they even threw in a complimentary slice of the Monster cake (to die for!). Keep up the great service!

Awesome food. Had a few problems with food. When offered free round of drinks, they reneged and only gave the one person affected a drink. That wasn't cool but the food and atmosphere were awesome.

Food was amazing. We had the poutine, burger, and onion soup which were all great! Prices were very reasonable. Service was great. Atmosphere was very nice! Go!

I went for my birthday with a party of 10 and really appreciated Melissa's service. We are a lively bunch and sometimes demanding with food choices but she was so nice and patient with us. Food was also amazing! Appreciated the free cake. Me and my friend took the seafood platter and we were very pleased

Well priced for quality food and services. This is the fried calamari. Crisp, crunchy and tasty with no greasy after taste.

We recently had a brunch there. They had a special menu which was well priced. The food was really good and the staff very friendly.

Such a great place to dine! Loved the atmosphere; cozy, warm, and inviting. The music was so good that our whole table starting singing the songs that were playing! I will say it is loud as the music is loud and everyone is trying to talk over it. We went during some food festival so it was a 3 course meal for a very reasonable price. The food was AMAZING! I had the beef tartare and the “cav&cheese” for dinner. YUM! Our waitress was Samantha and she was delightful. Great service.

We had a wonderful dinner tonight and our first time at Mechant Boeuf! We tried the Happening Gourmand menu and the Cornish hen was AMAZING. My boyfriend also enjoyed the steak and It was so tender it almost melted in your mouth. The service was one of the best we have experienced. Our waiter Nick was helpful, attentive, incredibly friendly. Thanks so much Nick!! The rest of the staff was just the same. We are from Toronto but will definitely come back again one day!

Went for the happening gourmand brunch at 17$ , it was super nice, amazing homemade viennoiseries, great service, highly recommand.

We came for the MTL à table menu. Food and service was good. The wine that the waiter suggested went nicely with our meal. Just a little hiccup on the service, we did have to ask for bread twice before it arrived to our table. Ambiance is similar to a pub, a bit on the noisy side. Overall, we had good experience.

A few hiccups in the service but it was handled very graciously. The waiter, the staff& the manager were very caring and nice. The dj was great ,played a variety of different things music was a great volume ( loud enough to jam to but not to loud that you can't here your friends. Would definitely go back and try the brunch.

45 mins wait for a less than mediocre, flavourless avocado toast, and dry chicken and waffles. Mimosa from menu was also no good. Completely uninspired menu. Also, THEY RAN OUT OF FRIES...how is that possible to not be prepared in a city that is literally known for poutine, a fries based dish? The IGA grocery store is a 10 minute walk away, people...figure it out. No idea how this got such a good rating. Save your money and go somewhere else. Worst.

Fantastic experience with my family. Phillip was a great server and madenour experience fun! Boozy brunch was great and the food was fabulous. Overall the restaurant is very clean and the management is organized. We will be back next time for sure. We were also served by Nicholas at the end because Phillips shift was over. He was amazing as well! Koodos to this restaurant for the service and experience!
